Finally the solution for hi-end multichannel sound!
The MC 8 x100 MKII is the solution to bring the audio quality of "Class T" amplifiers into the multichannel world. Based on TAA4100A chips from Tripath and custom output air core inductors, it allows the creation of really good sounding Home Theatre / Multichannel systems. The
sound quality is simply outstanding. No matter what's the level of the
traditional HT amplifier that you will replace, the result will marvel
you. Use it in place of the power stage of your amp, or even hook it
directly to a DVD player with multichannel decoder and volume control!
Other possible usages include multi-wiring, small musical groups and so
on. The MC 8 x 100 MKII has eight channels,
all with the same power and sound quality, the same of our best selling
Class T 100 kit. You can use any number of channels you like, and leave
the others unused.
The new MKII
version is based on the usage of TWO BOARDS (equivalent to the Class T
4 x 100) so that the power handling of the system is increased: - two rectifier bridges
- two separate power supply circuits with dedicated capacitors
- improved separation between the two groups of channels
- more freedom for board position
Power supply options
The Class T 8x100 MKII comes fully assembled and
tested. The Tripath's chips on the boards work with a DC voltage from 12 to 27 Volts DC. You have now three options for the power supply to the boards:
- a single power transformer with double 18 Volts AC secondary windings: this is the cheapest solution, a 150 VA (or larger) transformer is recommended
- two power transformers
with 18 Volts AC secondary windings: this is the best solution to
achieve more power handling, 150 VA (or larger) transformers are
recommended
- a good DC power
supply, linear or switching mode, with 12 to 27 Volts DC (max) and 3 to 5 A current rating.
Just connect the wires ... and go! And you can also use it in your car or caravan. |
"Class
T" amps are very power efficient, so the 8 x 100 MKII uses two small
heatsinks. As with all the other amps from AudioDigit, with the MC 8x
100 kit you will get the best out of Tripath's "Class T" technology,
without loosing anything in the name of the very low cost as some
commercially available products.
Extensive
tests and listening sessions suggested us to use "air core" inductors
that don't suffer from the "hysteresis" phenomenon (like the usual
ferrite core inductors). The result is a very natural sound, listen for
instance to the "tape hiss" (when present in the recording): it simply
sounds like it should be.
